How's your RAM?
Adding Random Access Memory (RAM) to your computer system is a small investment that has a big impact on all your applications. Professionals who work with graphics applications know the value of RAM, but novice users may not be aware of how it can dramatically affect an application's performance. On average, Corel® Painter™ professional users have 1 GB or more of RAM.

When you create a new document, an estimate for the RAM required appears in the New dialog. A saved Corel Painter file is usually 25% to 50% of the size of the working document, depending on the number of colors it contains.

In the New dialog box, Canvas Size (circled in red) shows the RAM requirement for creating the document at the specified width, height, and resolution. This number does not reflect the file size for the saved Corel Painter file.
